The Loom Of Time

Man's life is laid in the loom of time
To a pattern he does not see,
While the weaver works, and the shuttles fly
Till the dawn of eternity.

Some shuttles are filled with silver thread,
And some with threads of gold,
While often but the darker hue
Is all that they may hold.

But the weaver watches with skillful eye
Each shuttle fly to-and-fro,
And sees the pattern so deftly wrought
As the loom moves sure and slow.

God surely planned the pattern...
Each thread the dark and fair,
Is chosen by his master skill
And placed in the web with care.

He, only, knows its beauty,
And guides the shuttles which hold
The threads so unattractive
As well as the threads of gold.

Not till each loom is silent
And ther shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the pattern,
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads were as needful
In the weaver's skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
For the pattern which He has planned.

The Time Is Beief

Because the longest life is brief,
I must be swift in keeping
The little trysts with kindliness
Before the last long sleeping.

I must be swift in reaching out
To those whose hearts are yearning,
Oh, swift indeed to love them much
Before the road's last turning.

I must be quick to give the days
My earnest, wise endeavor,
Some day I know a door will close,
And shut me in forever.

Before that great, strange solence falls,
I surely must be saying
The words that I have failed to say,
The prayers I should be praying.
Grace Noll Crowell, 1930

Take time to think...
It is the source of power.

Take time to play...
It is the secret of perpetual youth.

Take time to read...
It is the fountain of wisdom.

Take time to pray...
It is the greatest power on earth.

Take time to love and be loved...
It is a God-given privilege.

Take time to be friendly...
It is the the road of happiness...

Take time to laugh...
It is the music of the soul.

Take time to work...
It is the price of success.

Take time to do charity...
It is the key to Heaven.

Forever is the little gold band
That circles your finger and mine;
Forever, it shines with a glory supreme
That defies the passing of time.

Forever entwined in that circle
Are hours long-remembered sublime;
Though worn with the years it is priceless...
Forever, with moments divine.

Forever's the warmth of a mother's heart,
Forever's a day when you're blue;
Forever's a hope, a longing, a dream,
Eternally springing anew.

Forever's a promise given to share
That lives everlasting for you;
Forever's a love that lives through the years,
Forever's a heart that is true.
