Signs Of Spring
There are signs of spring in the old red barn
As the annual miracle greets our eyes.
We hear the bleat of the gentle ewes
And the new lamb's answering cries.
There are signs of spring as we hear the peep
Of downy chicks in shipping crates;
Greet a warmer sun in an earlier dawn,
Hear the hum of roller skates.
There are signs of spring in the flower beds,
In the meadows, wings are whiring.
We see the good earth, not yet awake
...But stiring.

Daffodils
I Wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed and gazed but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
William Wordsworth

The Breath Of Spring
The breath of spring is in the air,
The daffodil's abloom,
With crimson tulips bright and fair,
In springtime's sweet perfume.
The rolling fields of verdant green,
Full rich with promise lie
Caressed by sunlight's golden sheen
Beneath a sapphire sky.
The fairy wand upon the trees
Has opened to the sun,
The wee brown buds, kissed by the breeze,
A miracle each one.
The little birds that joyfully sing
Their hymn unto the dawn
Are bidding welcome to the spring...
And lo, the winter's gone.
